Words of Spite

The spite, it comes and goes.

Words of spite
and anger and pain
poorly convey,
so let me explain:

Talk to me one day,
and venom I’ll spit,
but ask me the next,
I admit I forgive.

I never did lie
while talking all sweet:
If my presence would hurt you,
I want to retreat.

However annoying
my feelings must be,
I promise you, darling,
it’s much worse for me.

So I will keep jotting
unflattering words;
Not ’cause you’re evil,
but because I am hurt.
