The Vulture

The birds that are circling overhead have grown suspect.

In the air, it circles
what it pities down below.
The vulture has no need to rush.
The vulture takes it slow.

There is no need to worry;
the air up here is fine.
The vulture simply floats and waits
for what’s below to die.

The vulture has a scary job
watching what it reaps,
but the vulture knows it is not prey;
the vulture soundly sleeps.
