Sway and Rest

Insignificant;
Might just be the correct word.
Like a blade of grass.

The sway and rest, and sway and rest;
A slave to wind and rolling breeze.
The eyes do not see play and jest,
The sway and rest, following the trees:

The grass that grows and grass we cut,
We possess the blades that best,
The grass across the neighbor’s fence,
And sway and rest. And sway, and rest.

The tall grass blades that sway the most,
Those dancing, playing, swaying West,
A slave to wind, seeks Sun and won’t.
Content. It sways, and rests.

So step and crush the Springtime rush
Beneath your feet and guess,
That hurting grass will simply pass,
And learn to sway, and rest.
